Your logs are yours, and the app will hand them over in a format you can open in anything. No account, no request form, no waiting on me.
Making a backup
- Open No Meat Today and tap Settings.
- Scroll to π Uncooked Data.
- Tap Backup now.
That writes a file named after the moment you tapped β an ISO timestamp, so the files sort themselves β and Available backups opens to show every one you have made, newest first. The number beside it is how many are stored.
Getting the file off your phone
Tap any dated row and the share sheet opens. From there you can save it to Files, drop it in iCloud Drive or Dropbox, AirDrop it to a Mac, or mail it to yourself. Nothing leaves the device until you pick a destination.
To clear out old ones, swipe a row and delete. The backups live inside the app, so deleting the app deletes them too β move anything you care about somewhere else first.
What is in the file
Pretty-printed JSON, indented so you can read it without tooling: your days, your goals, and your cows. Open it in a text editor, load it into a spreadsheet or a notebook, feed it to whatever you like. There is no schema document β the key names are the field names, and they say what they are.
Reading a backup back in
There is no Import button. Instead, open the .json file and choose No Meat
Today from the share sheet, and the app loads it.
This replaces what is in the app rather than merging with it. Importing a backup from March leaves you with Marchβs data and nothing since. It is a restore, not a sync β so make a fresh backup before you read an old one in, and if you only meant to move to a new phone, iCloud already does that on its own.
If something looks wrong
Send me the file. Write to me from inside the app and attach it β that message already carries your app version and device, which is usually enough for me to spot what happened.
